Stonefruit is a new production company based in Los Angeles specializing in crafting strange, queer, and surprising stories across a variety of genres.
We have already captivated audiences and earned awards on a global scale, showcasing our work at festivals like Outfest, NewFest, Austin Film Festival, Inside Out Toronto, and GAZE Dublin, and at institutions like the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. We have won multiple Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay awards, and have cultivated a dedicated fan base excited to see more.
From our distinct backgrounds and achievements, we bring a wide range of expertise to our productions having worked in narrative, commercial, branded, documentary, music video, animation, literature, theatre, and new media spaces.
We champion projects that are boundary-pushing, genre-bending, character-driven thrill rides that charm you, shock you, and make you examine what it means to be human.
The Team
Founder & CEO - ZACH SIEGEL (he/they)
Zach is an award-winning writer, director, and editor. He’s directed shorts that have played at film festivals internationally, including Wanna Go Camping? - which had a residency at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle for several months - and You Can Stay Over (If You Want), which won numerous Best Short, Best Director, and Best Screenplay awards, and was selected as one of the Top Films of Outfest 2024 (Awards Daily). He’s directed live plays including the musical comedy More Guns!, which ran at Second City for two years, and for which he won Stage Scene LA’s Best Director award. He’s edited on Mean Girls (2024), Yo! MTV Raps, and music videos for artists like The All-American Rejects, FINNEAS, Andrew Bird, Iron & Wine, and Lindsey Stirling. His NSFW queer poetry book is available at select bookstores in LA and NY, and his fairy tale collection Tales From the Goblin’s Cart will be released soon. He’s also a proud graduate of the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, where he met lifelong collaborators Cookie and Allison.
VP - COOKIE WALUKAS (they/them)
Cookie is a queer filmmaker and creative producer whose work is driven by a deep love of cinema, art, photography, and pop culture. A graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, their practice spans narrative, documentary, experimental film—and bold brand storytelling. In addition to their award-winning film work, Cookie brings sharp marketing instincts and irreverent creative vision to the commercial world. While working with the viral beverage brand Liquid Death, they helped craft boundary-pushing campaigns that blurred the lines between advertising, entertainment, and social commentary—garnering millions of views and global attention. Their short film Ripe! won Best Narrative Short Award at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, and they were named a 2024 Film Independent Producing Lab Fellow. Their hybrid feature starring drag icon Lady Camden premiered as the Closing Night selection at BFI Flare 2024. Cookie’s collaborative portfolio includes projects with Beyoncé, Prince Harry & Meghan Markle, Mariah Carey, Malala, Gal Gadot, Sydney Sweeney, Armani, Apple, ABC, Disney, and every major record label—bridging pop culture with powerful storytelling.
VP - ALLISON TATE (she/they)
Allison is an Independent Spirit Award-nominated filmmaker who has collaborated with Zach and Cookie for years. She produced You Can Stay Over (If You Want) with the Stonefruit team, which has thrilled and delighted audiences globally. Additionally, she produced the acclaimed feature film Big Boys (2024), which won 17 awards, holds a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and earned a 5 star review from The Guardian, calling it "An Achingling Brilliant Queer Coming-of-Age Classic". It has been released theatrically and on streaming in the US and internationally. The film was nominated for the John Cassavetes Award and for the Best Breakthrough Performance at the 2025 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Additionally it earned a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Film - Limited Theatrical Release. She also served as the Director of Editorial Video at EqualPride Media, where she led the video team for the largest LGBTQ+ brands in the world including Out Magazine, The Advocate, and Pride.com. As a writer, director, and creative producer, she has worked in narrative, documentary, branded, episodic and more. She is a graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts with a B.A. in Film & Television Production. Her work has been featured on Access Hollywood, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Sight and Sound, Huffington Post, IndieWire and more.
